Collage made of scraps of the exhibition catalogue

Picture Damage

Two weeks ago, I went to Düsseldorf to see a friend, and we went to this exhibition at the Kunsthalle that I didn’t know anything about. It was called “Productive Image Interference”. And although the work didn’t seem spectacular (at least for my untrained eyes), it somehow was inspiring in how it made us think about their creative process. I enjoyed seeing the experimentation on layering different materials, textures and media. To rearrange pre-existing material and create something new.

After a long time without writing or planning to write, I decided to come back. Sometimes I get stuck on some topics, they remain in my head, and suddenly, it seems everything I see is about them. Recently, because of some personal problems, I have constantly been thinking and searching for content about different creative processes and how to have fun while working on a project.

This made me want to give it a go at collage and art journaling. It seems like a good way to accept imperfection and an unfinished state. Maybe get over expectations because in the end, it’s not about the product but the process. Let’s see how far this goes.
